Moto X Force – Review
I do not share your experience either. I really enjoyed the Motorola phone I owned. This one looks to be a very compelling package too. What is not clear to me in the review is whether it runs pure Android like a Nexus or whether it has additional UI overlay. Having used pure Android over the last year or so, I will stick with it in the future. I really like it as an OS and having updates as soon as they are released is fantastic.

Add in a massive 3,740mAh battery that can last for a massive 15h 12m of continuous video playback with the screen set to 170cd/m2 and this Moto X is truly a force to be reckoned with. This is just 20 minutes shy of the Galaxy S6 Edge, which is currently our longest-lasting smartphone, giving it a full two hours on the normal S6, and four hours on the Xperia Z5.
This is the first Motorola smartphone that features Motorola's "ShatterShield" technology, which consists of two touchscreen elements, reinforced by an internal aluminum frame to make it resistant to bending and cracking, although this does not protect against scratches or other superficial screen damage. The top layer of the display is designed to be user-replaceable. The screen and case also have a water repellent nanocoating to protect the device from liquids that could damage internal components.[6][8]

Yet, unfortunately, there are also differences compared to pure Android. For example, the level of the security patch is still on December 1 (more than 5 months after writing this review) while a Nexus device is updated monthly. It's not clear when or how often Motorola will perform updates. In the software, the QHD resolution of the screen does not really come into its own either. Much of the interface looks a bit bloated. The grid size on the start screen is 4x4 while on the Nexus 5X with its smaller screen is 5x5. In apps like the Play Store or Gmail there is also relatively little content on screen. This can be remedied to some extent by setting the font size in the display settings to small but it's not really satisfactory.
At the time of writing the review, the latest version available for the smartphone has Android Security Patch from 1st December 2015. Since the phone is running on Marshmallow, users get access to app permissions, the new memory and storage monitoring apps and file manager as well as the improved battery life thanks to Doze functionality.
